Fully Reflective Solar Simulators
The Fully Reflective Class ABA Solar Simulator
High Intensity, Uniform Illumination of artificial solar irradiation
Typically, high power solar simulators use an ellipsoidal reflector to capture light from an arc lamp source inside the reflector, an arrangement that results in a light pattern with a bright outer region and a dark center. This non-uniformity is unacceptable in many solar simulator applications and as a result, forces many of our solar simulator competitors to use designs involving diffusers to reduce the non-uniformity. This results in a reduction of intensity and a distortion of the spectrum on the target area.
Sciencetech’s solution to these problems is to use a unique system of mirrors that ‘fold’ the light onto the target plane, effectively reducing the light that is lost with little to no spectral distortion and also ensures no chromatic aberration in the output beam.
In addition, each of Sciencetech’s solar simulators are customizable to best suit your requirements. The design of the fully reflective solar simulator permits a trade-off between power and uniformity. Higher uniformity can be achieved with lower power; or power can be increased and uniformity reduced.

Low Cost Solar Simulators
Sciencetech is proud to offer our newly improved line of Low Cost Solar Simulator Systems, based on small area lenses. Sciencetech offers two lines (SF and SciSun) of solar simulators that produce up to 2 Suns (AM1.5G), depending on the selected model.
These systems are a great choice if low price is a high priority, without having to compromise on important solar simulator specifications.
At the heart of a Sciencetech Solar Simulator, a xenon arc lamp, housing, a special optical assembly, power supply with igniter, filter holder and manual shutter are included. SF solar simulators also include UV fused silica lenses for higher UV emission.
These systems are complete plug-and-play operable and come with easily configurable, touchscreen power supply and control software. Class AAA Solar Simulator spectral matching, spatial non-uniformity, and temporal instability are conformed to ASTM, IEC and JIS standards.

Highly Collimated Solar Simulators
Sciencetech’s Highly Collimated Solar Simulators were designed for photovoltaic cell testing applications where a very high degree of collimation of the incident radiation is required. CPV and solar thermal applications generally, both require light sources with angular divergences approaching that of the sun (0.5 degrees).
Sciencetech’s highly collimated solar simulators can provide ABA classification, large area continuous illumination (9” and 12” respectively) and high collimation (0.7 degrees half angle). These solar simulators include integrated power supplies and an advanced lamp alignment tool which makes them easy to use
